Built In Cutting Board Replacement

Since I've been doing this handyman stuff officially for around half a year now, I figured I should start taking pictures of some of the things I've worked on and posting about it. So here's something I recently worked on and managed to actually remember to take some pictures of. On some of the older style houses, there's a built-in pull out style cutting board. It was getting a bit too crusty like for must customer. They went and bought this really nice Ikea bamboo cutting board and wanted to replace the old one with the Ikea board. Here's a side by side of the nice and new versus the crusty-ness of the old Took both of them to town on a table saw. Trimmed off the wood stained "handle" from the original for re-use. Trimmed off the extra protruding handle and cut the bamboo cutting board to size. Interesting note, the middle of the Ikea board isn't quite solid! Miter Saw LED Lights Upgrade

For the longest time, I've been using my single compound miter saw,  DeWalt DW715. It's fairly cheap and works fairly well. Cuts 99.9% of everything I need to cut, except those really really wide boards, for which I really wished I had a sliding miter saw *sigh*. But it doesn't have a laser on it. Now-a-days the new fangled thing in town is the shadow line thing, where a light on the far saw of the saw blade would cast a shadow on the material to be cut to help determine where the cut will be,  like this instructables , but that's because several of the major brands are already incorporating this into their miter saws. Here's the final product, note the line of shadow on the piece of wood just to the lower left of the blade? I had a bunch of these 12 volt DC, LED strip line sitting around, like $5 for a 16 ft roll.
